General
Do I get root access?
As these accounts are hosted on a shared server, you will not get root access to the server. This is an essential security precaution when sharing resources with other users, and means you cannot install your own applications.
What is monthly traffic and how is this calculated?
Web traffic is the amount of data sent and received by visitors to a web site. Each time a visitor views a page on a website, they download the html, images and any other components that form that page onto their local computer; this information is then pieced together by a web browser to correctly display the page. This download of information from your web-server contributes towards your monthly traffic allowance.
To ensure fair network usage, each hosting account has its own monthly traffic allowance based upon the needs of each account type. Should you exceed your bandwidth allowance, all excess bandwidth with be charged at 0.1 pence per MB. Any charges will be added to your account automatically.
To ensure no hidden surprises you can view how much bandwidth you are currently using via your online control panel, bandwidth quotes are also clearly stated in each product page. You will also be notified when you account exceeds the allocated bandwidth.What security / backup measures do you take?
All our servers are monitored continuously so we are able to respond immediately to any problems.
Our Linux shared servers are backed up to tape on a regular basis to ensure that if any problems should occur the data from the server is available for restore. The archived tapes are held in a fire-proof safe outside of the data centre.
Please note that these backups are designed to provide insurance against any serious server issues or similar - there is an admin charge for restoring files which have been accidentally deleted. We advise you to ensure that you have a backup of all files uploaded to our servers.I've already built my website elsewhere. Can you transfer it over for me?
Unfortunately we're not able to do this. Your website data is completely confidential to you, so we're unable to access your files. However, to transfer it over to us you can simply make a local copy of all your files and then upload it to our servers using FTP.
Hosting - general
Do you offer telephone support?
At present, we do not offer telephone support. If we provided telephone support we would not be able to offer the hosting plans at such competitive prices.
This is why we offer a free trial – it will allow you to fully assess the level of complexity of the product and decide if it will suit your needs prior to making any financial commitment.
Support for all our plans is available via fax and email.Why are your plans so cheap? Is quality compromised?
Absolutely not, we rent wholesale hosting space from a major European hosting company, split this space into smaller plans and rent to our customer.
As a small company, we keep our overheads low and thus can pass on the space at a very competitive price.That scripting languages do you offer?

Can I upload my own CMS or eCommerce system?
Yes, you most certainly can. We offer the pre-installed versions to those that don’t feel confident at installing and configuring such a system. If you have the technical expertise to carry out this task, just purchase a standard plan.
Hosting - eCommerce
How many products can I list in my eCommerce store?
The number of products is limited purely by the amount of web space provided with your plan. The governing factor will usually be the size of the product images.
However, with our standard plan, you should be able to host a store with several thousand products if you carefully manage the size of your image files.Can I use the database facility with this plan?
Yes, when accessing the database you will see the tables associated with the eCommerce application. Care must be take not to change the existing tables, however, you can add additional tables as you require.
Databases
I would like to use a database. Do the your hosting accounts provide this?
Yes, all our accounts provide database functionality. All users are provided with MySQL an open source relational database manager. MySQL can be managed directly from your online control panel.
How many tables can I have on my database?
You can have unlimited tables per database, the size of you database is limited only by the storage space remaining on your account.
What restrictions do you have on your email accounts?
E-mail is not the most efficient method for transferring large files, so to prevent your mail delivery being hampered by large emails sent by other customers we have set a limit of 10MB on the combined total size of the email plus attachment. We do not have a specific limit on the number of emails you can send/receive, although to protect all our users from the problem of spam this is subject to our acceptable use policy. We would recommend using FTP for the transfer of larger files.
